Orland Park DUI: Bridgeview Court and Getting Your License Back
Most of Orland Park is in Cook County, so a DUI arrest here is usually heard in Bridgeview, where Jeff already handles cases. A small Will County part goes to Joliet. The license steps after the case follow state rules.
Your deadlines
- Day 46. Your statutory summary suspension starts, counted from the day you got the notice.
- Day 90. The last day to file a petition to rescind that suspension.
Bridgeview, not downtown Chicago
People are often surprised that a suburban Cook County DUI is not sent to the courthouse in the city. For south suburban arrests, it is the Circuit Court of Cook County, Fifth Municipal District, at 10220 S 76th Ave, Bridgeview, IL 60455. Jeff handles Bridgeview cases for Orland Park, Tinley Park and Lemont matters, so the building and its routine are familiar to him.
The small Will County part of Orland Park is the exception. An arrest there is filed with the Circuit Clerk of Will County and heard at the Will County Courthouse in Joliet. Check the court on your ticket.
The stop itself
The Orland Park Police Department patrols the village, and the village website shows the department posting its own enforcement results. A DUI stop by that department follows the usual steps: a ticket, a chemical test or a refusal, and a sworn report. The officer takes your license and gives you a receipt that allows driving until the suspension starts.
After the case: the license
The Secretary of State publishes the steps for getting driving privileges back. They differ depending on how the suspension or revocation happened.
| Situation | What the Secretary of State requires |
|---|---|
| End of a statutory summary suspension, first offense | Close other suspensions, pay a $250 reinstatement fee |
| Same, multiple offenses | Close other suspensions, pay a $500 reinstatement fee |
| Revocation after a DUI conviction | Hearing officer hearing (informal for a first offense, formal for multiple), alcohol and drug evaluation, remedial education, proof of financial responsibility, $500 fee, driving exam |
On a conviction, the Secretary of State must revoke driving privileges (625 ILCS 5/11-501.01(d)). That is one reason the criminal outcome and the license are tied together, and why the court supervision page matters to many first-time drivers. Whether supervision is available or sensible in your case is something Jeff discusses on the call. He cannot promise it.

Credit for time already served
A statutory summary suspension and a later revocation are different things, and Illinois does not make you serve both from scratch. If your privileges were summarily suspended and you are later convicted for the same incident, the time served on the suspension is credited toward the minimum period of revocation (625 ILCS 5/6-208.1(d)). The Secretary of State describes a revocation as the loss of driving privileges for an indefinite period, and the end of it depends on the hearing process, and no fixed date applies.
That is one reason the order of events matters. A suspension that began on the 46th day after notice starts a clock that may later count for something.
A simple timeline of the license
- The arrest: license taken, receipt issued.
- The 46th day after notice: summary suspension begins unless it was rescinded.
- The criminal case ends: outcome decides whether the Secretary of State revokes.
- Reinstatement: fee, records cleared, and, after a revocation, the hearing steps.

For getting back on the road, see the license reinstatement page and the hardship license page. For clearing the record years later, the sealing and expungement page explains what is possible. Questions people ask about orland park dui lawyer
Short answers first. Jeff McCarthy reviews every answer on this page.
Orland Park has no courthouse of its own. The Cook County cases from the village are heard in Bridgeview at the Fifth Municipal District.
After a conviction that revokes your privileges, the Secretary of State says a first offense needs an informal hearing. A summary suspension that simply runs out needs the fee and cleared records, not a hearing.
Only a small part of the village. The ticket names the court, and Jeff can check a specific address against the county line.
