The station on Farrell Road

The department lists its address as 1212 S Farrell Road, Lockport, IL 60441. Records and administration are open Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed on holidays, at 815-838-2132. The non-emergency line is 815-838-2131.

The department's page also covers the nights and weekends. Police services run 24 hours a day, and inside the lobby vestibule a red courtesy phone connects you to dispatch when the front desk is closed. If a family member needs the department after hours, that phone is the way in.

What the city site does not say

Lockport's police pages do not post a towing or impound release process, a fee, or a bond process. Two calls fill the gap: ask the non-emergency line which company towed the vehicle, then call that company about what it needs and what it charges.

Bond and release

Illinois no longer uses cash bail; the Will County Sheriff page explains the statutes. What that means on the night you are arrested depends on what the officer and the judge do, so write down every paper you are handed.

Court and the clock

A Lockport arrest is heard in Will County. The courthouse is 100 W Jefferson St in Joliet, and the courthouse guide shows where to park and how security works. Then there is the license: under 625 ILCS 5/11-501.1(g), the suspension takes effect on the 46th day after notice was given. The deadline calculator on this site counts it. The suspension page explains what the number means.

How long a suspension can last

The length depends on what happened at the test. 625 ILCS 5/6-208.1(a) sets 12 months for a refusal or a failure to complete testing, and 6 months where the person submitted to a test that showed 0.08 or more. For anyone other than a first offender who refused, it is 3 years. A first offender, under 625 ILCS 5/11-500, has no previous DUI conviction or court supervision, and no earlier 11-501.1 suspension or revocation, in the 5 years before the current offense.

Those are the statute's numbers, not a prediction about your case. Jeff reads the breath or blood result and the officer's report before saying anything about yours.

Papers to keep from the night

  • The citation and any notice of suspension, with their dates.
  • Your property receipt, if the station held your phone, wallet or keys.
  • The name of the tow company, and a photo of any tow slip.
  • Your own notes on what happened, written the same day.

Bring them all to the first call. The date on the notice sets the clock for the license deadline.
